In its meeting on January 17th, 2008 in Vienna, Austria the EMPA board agreed upon a proposal of the 1st Vice-President, Mrs. Līga Lakuča, to establish an EMPA - Award for the best article of the year published in a member paper.

The establishment of the EMPA - Award for the best article of the year is based on the idea of activating and evaluating European military journalists work. It will be a good opportunity for military journalists to show their skills as well as the results of their work to the whole European military media community.

Applicants may be EMPA-members as well as journalists writing for an EMPA member paper on the proposal of an EMPA-member.

The year of review starts on July 1st and ends on June 30th every year.

Applicants are invited to send in a copy of the printed article as well as a translation of the article into the English language to the Secretary General not later than June 30th.

The articles are reviewed by the EMPA board. The winner will be invited to and the award presented at the general meeting of the Association.

The EMPA - Award comprises:

• a letter of appreciation,
• a trophy,
• publication of the article in the EMPA news and on the EMPA homepage.
