EMPA - Award for the best photo of the year published in a member paper
The establishment of the EMPA - Award for the best photo of the year is based on the idea of activating and evaluating European military photographers work. A photo can tell more than a thousand words. Therefore photos are an important part of making a publication.

Applicants may be EMPA-members as well as photographers working for an EMPA member paper on the proposal of an EMPA-member.

The year of review starts on July 1st and ends on the date announced in the EMPAnews every year. The application should be sent to the Secretary General not later than the date announced in the EMPAnews. (Please support the new EMPA photo award by sending in photographs to the Secretary General NLT April 1st 2011.)

Applicants are invited to send in a copy of the printed pages/pages with the photo and a hardcopy of the photo in the DIN A4-format. The width or the height must be at least 21 cm. The photo must also be delivered on a CD in JPEG format. The file must not be smaller than 300 dpi.

The following data shall be submitted together with the photo:

- The name of the photographer

- The name and the edition of the magazine in which the photo has been published

- A short description of the photo

A confirmation that gives EMPA the right to publish the photo on the EMPA homepage, to publish the winner photo for one year free of charge and the right to store the photo in the EMPA archives.

Process of review

Every member magazine may send in 5 entries as a maximum.

The photos will be pre-reviewed by the EMPA board during the spring meeting.

A maximum of 25 photos (but at least from every magazine) will be presented at the EMPA congress.

EMPA members present at the Congress vote for the winner. Each member has one vote, and the votes will be evaluated during the congress.

The winning magazine representative will be handed over the award on behalf of the photographer at the General Meeting of the Association.

The EMPA - Award will be presented to the photographer by the editor-in-chief of the magazine that published the photograph accompanied by the national EMPA -POC.

The EMPA - Award comprises:

- a letter of appreciation,

- a trophy,

- the publication of the photo in the EMPAnews.

Member magazines have the right to publish the photo for one year free of charge.
